Reading Central Constituency Labour Party (CLP)
Nestled where the River Thames meets the River Kennet, Reading is the principal regional and commercial centre of the Thames Valley. Our lively shopping districts, thriving night-time economy and vibrant leisure destinations sit comfortably alongside peaceful pockets of countryside and charming nearby villages.
The town has come a long way, from its origins in ‘beer, biscuits and bulbs’ to a compact service economy which specialises in business and insurance services, and has some of the finest high-tech business parks in the South East, with many international companies choosing Reading as their home.
How it all works
As a Reading Central Labour Party member, you’re part of your Constituency Labour Party (CLP), Branch Labour Party (BLP), and Young Labour (if you’re aged 14–26).
The CLP mirrors the area represented by Matt Rodda MP. In Reading Central, CLP meetings are open to all members and are known as All Member Meetings (AMMs). The day-to-day operation and administrative decisions of the CLP are made by an Executive Committee (EC).
A branch refers to a sub-grouping of the Constituency Labour Party, usually organised on the basis of one or more local authority ward boundaries. Considerable activity takes place at branch level. Labour members take part in choosing local council candidates, organise local campaigning, social events and fundraising.
Together we can make a difference
We’re your local hub for Labour activity—campaigning for Labour values, developing policy with members, and working to elect Labour candidates.
Our members lead the way: knocking on doors, running street stalls, organising events, standing in elections, and fighting for a better future.
There’s a role for everyone. Join us, find your local Labour team and let us know how you’d like to get involved.
We look forward to hearing from you.
