The £1 billion Crisis and Resilience Fund will ensure families can access the support they need when they need it.
This will act as a genuine safety net to prevent families from falling into poverty. It gives Local Authorities the certainty they need to run long-lasting initiatives targeted at the needs of their local area.
The fund will run from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2029. Reading Borough Council has been allocated £2.3million to spend from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027.
Reading Borough Council is aiming for the scheme to start by July 2026. Please continue to use the Discretionary Housing Payment application form to apply for help with housing costs from 1 April 2026.
