About Olivia

I was born at the Royal Berks and I grew up in Berkshire. Like Martin Salter before me, I’ll be a community-focused MP. My record running national campaigns and research shows I can be a strong champion for the area. I’ve worked for the NUS, the BBC and in parliament – and now I lead a team of public policy researchers.

The Tories have ripped off Reading and West Berkshire - from the state of local roads and waste disposal services to savage cuts to police, schools and hospitals. Now they are arrogantly seeking a blank cheque for a risky and extreme Brexit that will hit us in the pocket.

My five pledges

west

Only a vote for Labour at this election can stop the Tories in their tracks.

I’ll fight Tory cuts to local schools

Labour will will keep class sizes down, drive up standards and reintroduce the EMA for pupils from lower income households.

I’ll fight Tory plans for a reckless Brexit

Labour will put jobs, rights and prosperity first in the Brexit negotiations. We’ll also guarantee the right of EU nationals to remain in the UK, and secure fairer controls on migration.

I’ll stand up for our struggling NHS

I’ll fight to improve local GP services like Circuit Lane Surgery and I’ll back overstretched staff. Labour will always give the NHS the money it needs.

I’ll demand affordable homes

Labour will build a million new homes and introduce tough new controls on unscrupulous private landlords.

I’ll be on the side of the many

The Tories have given the super-rich tax breaks, while working families are set to be £1400 a year worse off.
