Matt Rodda MP
Matt was elected the Member of Parliament for Reading East in the 2017 General Election.
He believes in fairness for all, in high quality public services and in an economy which works for everyone, not just a lucky few.
Matt was a civil servant in the Department for Education and joined the Labour Party after being impressed with the improvements in education which were delivered by the last Labour Government. He now works in the University sector.
Matt has lived in Reading for 18 years, and is married with two children at a local school.
As a Councillor he pushed for positive change in the community, including helping to save Reading's Stepping Stones centre for disabled adults from closure and also fought to get all the staff working at the town's University paid the living wage.
When elected Matt said "I would like to thank my family, my agent and my election team. It as been the most wonderful campaign and they worked incredibly hard.
"I think this election produced some unprecedented results and we have to now to take stock and consider where our country is going.
"This campaign has been a campaign for young people about policy and leadership.
"I would particularly like to pay tribute to the leader of the Labour Party Jeremy Corbyn. His visit to Reading inspired us and showed real leadership."
