Councillor Karen Rowland
First elected in 2018, Karen is the Lead Councillor for Environmental Services and Community Safety, overseeing initiatives to reduce anti-social behaviour, litter and rubbish issues in the area. Karen led the launch of Public Space Protection Orders, an expanded Litter and Fly tipping enforcement team, free bulky waste pick-ups for neighbourhoods in need and the recent "STOP" sign atop our grey bins which has led to a recent 15% improvement in food recycling rates across the town.

Councillor David Stevens
David has been a councillor since 2004 and has served on a range of committees and was Mayor of Reading 2021-22. David is married to Alison. They first moved to Reading in the mid 1980s and they have lived in the town centre the whole time. All his three children were born at the Royal Berkshire Hospital where he now serves as a Governor. He is especially concerned about Reading’s heritage and has been involved in various projects that celebrate the history of the town, the most recent being the restoration of the Cartwheeling Boys Statue.

Councillor Mohammed Ayub
Mohammed has proudly served as an Abbey Ward Councillor since 2007 and has lived in Reading for over 50 years, including more than 40 years in Abbey Ward. He has tirelessly worked to support residents and tackle the issues that matter most and remains committed to continuing that work for our town centre to make it more green and safer for the community. Away from councillor duties, Mohammed enjoys watching cricket and going on long walks along the River Thames with his family.
