Freedom of Information data obtained by the Labour Party has revealed a huge increase in the number of cancelled operations due to staffing issues and equipment failures.

Under the Tories, patients are waiting longer for vital care with the future of the NHS likely to be decided at the December 2019 General Election.

Labour is pledging to fully fund our NHS, recruit the doctors and nurses we need and safeguard our NHS from a Trump deal sell off that could cost the NHS £500 million a week.

The figures:

  • Last year, 78,981 operations were cancelled.
  • The number of operations cancelled because of staffing issues and equipment failures have each increased by a third in two years
  • There are currently over 100,000 staff vacancies in the NHS and the health service is facing a £6.5 billion repair bill
