At our last AMMReading and District Labour Party passed the following motion unanimously.
Reading and District Labour Party is concerned by the rise of organised racist and fascist organisations in the UK.
This has come to sharp focus through the campaign by far-right organisations including the “Democratic Football Lads Association”, former members of EDL and UKIP and others.
The apparent growth of Generation Identity, a fascist group seeking an all-white Europe, is also a matter of concern.
The attack on a Trade Union Leader (Steve Hedley, deputy general secretary of the RMT) by a group of their thugs after the rallies finished should serve as a warning to the Labour and Trade union movement and requires a rapid response.
The Labour Party must cut across this rise by inspiring disillusioned young people through a bold socialist programme.
Reading District Labour Party calls on the National Executive to work with the trade union movement and others towards a massive demonstration against these groups.
R&DLP commits itself to work with local trade unions and others to respond immediately and robustly to any attempt by the extreme right to intimidate through rallies, demonstrations and other actions as appropriate.
